Area Information

The splendid coves of bossiney and benoath are a 15-20 minute walk from the mill, while tintagel's other beaches are a few minutes drive and can also be reached via the coastal footpath, easily accessed via rocky valley; there are many access points for the coastal footpath. Tintagel is a parish comprising a dozen hamlets of which halgabron is one. It has a medievil castle (king arthur's castle) situated on an island promontary a short ditance from the parish church of st. Materianna situated beside the cliffs. The land around here is managed by the national trust for conservation of its historical and outstanding natural beauty there are several pubs and restaurants and the old post office is a rare medievil manor house owned by the national trust that is well worth a visit. Tintagel has a good network of public footpaths for which numerous guides are available. They offer access through farmland, wooded valleys and offer far reaching sea views of coastline, coves and island outcrops that offers dramatic interest for birdwatchers, artists, and all nature lovers. Bodmin moor is a short distance away (15-20 minutes drive) and offers moorland views of granite outcrops and heathland, ponys and sheep. There are also lakes where watersports and fishing is available. The moorland villages are an interesting part of the landscape providing commmunities for this sparsely populated place. Padstow and the camel estuary provides another totally different but equally scenic landscape, with the camel trail cycle path that runs from bodmin (30 minute drive) to wadebridge(30 minute drive) and on alongside the estuary of the river camel to padstow(45 minute drive).
