Area Information

Kalami is a beautiful horse shoe bay of white pebbles shelving steeply into clear water, in the north-east of corfu island. It became famous from lawrence durrell's white house, a white two storied house on a rocky promontory that was for several years in the 1930's the home of the novelist and his wife nancy. Lawrence durrell (1912-1990) was one of the most important novelists of the twentieth century and wrote during his staying in corfu the "prospero's cell".
