Area Information

Frigiliana is a cluster of white-chalked houses huddled up against castle hill so named because it used to be crowned by a moorish fortress. Its houses are in the moorish style and the narrow, cobble-stoned streets of the upper part, flanked by an abundance of colourful flowers, are a joy to walk through. At an altitude of 1,000 feet, it offers beautiful views over evergreen orchards of avocado and olive trees and foothills sloping down towards the mediterranean. It was named 'prettiest village of andalucia' in 1997 and is now protected. The house is ideal for those who prefer the pleasant atmosphere of a small village to the overcrowded seaside resorts. Those who like the sea will find beaches and coves at nerja 6 km away, but a holiday in the house offers the alternative option of walks in the surrounding fields and hills, trekking in the majestic sierra almijara.
